Avinash Sasidharan is a seasoned leader in Site Reliability Engineering at Cisco Systems, with over 12 years of experience in the field. He is currently serving as a Leader in Engineering at Cisco, where he leads the SRE team to ensure the smooth functioning of the Webex Cloud infrastructure. Avinash has extensive experience in handling large installations and upgrades independently and has led various cluster build, cutover, and migration projects across continents from scratch. He has automated various RPM based and Puppet based deployments and worked with cross-functional teams for troubleshooting and providing root cause analysis for each service impacting incident with all possible corrective actions for improvement. As a software engineer at Cisco, Avinash was responsible for maintaining 24/7 service to customers and reducing mean time to detect (MTTD) & mean time to recover (MTTR) in case of service interruption, thereby meeting the SLA. He has experience with Cloud Ops tools like Remedy 7 (ticketing tool), MCT, BMC Proactive & Entuity (device level Monitoring, switch/server/port), home-grown customer simulator (synthetic transactions), and deploying Docker containers and images. Avinash has basic knowledge of Data center virtualization (VMware), Application delivery controllers like Citrix Netscaler, Hadoop, Logstash, and puppet. He has experience with enterprise analytics monitoring solutions (e.g., New Relic, Circonus) and network monitoring solutions (e.g. Thousand eyes, Gomez). Before joining Cisco, Avinash worked as an Associate Software Engineer at Ip Infusion, where he worked in protocol development of a stack called ZebOS and developed APIs for Bi-directional forwarding detection (BFD) protocol. Avinash holds a B. Tech in Information Technology from Amrita School of Engineering and XII (ISC) in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Computer Science from Lakshmi School. He is proficient in SRE, Software Engineering, Puppet, New Relic, product design, product management, Docker, Hadoop, DevOps, and infra.
