Ayan Pal is a Lead Engineer at VDX.tv, formerly known as Exponential, with over 10 years of experience in the software industry. He specializes in Java/J2EE service/back-end development with solutions for Micro Services and has worked with BigData using Hadoop/Spark. Ayan has experience in designing, developing, testing, and deploying software applications using Java/J2EE, RDBMS for Micro Services, and BigData, and has worked with Agile/Scrum and Waterfall models. He has developed projects in Online Advertisement/AdTech, Financial Risk Management, e-Learning, Travel and Transport/Airline, and Imaging Solutions domains. Ayan has developed multi-threaded, high-performance computing applications that range from software to handle BigData using Spark in HDFS/Hadoop, to Testing Framework for Web Applications using Selenium. He has also mentored juniors and led small teams, and has received awards for performance and programming-competition in previous companies. He is engaged in making necessary changes at the back-end as well as for front-end, including switching from Oracle to Postgres, RESTifying customer APIs, using HTML5 for front-end, etc. Ayan's past experience includes working as an Associate at JPMorgan for Project Country Risk, where he led a 4-member team and played the role of the lead developer and Release Coordinator. He designed and implemented high-performance Risk Calculators, tested the functionalities with every possible change in Risk Factors, analyzed Risk Data, and brought in algorithmic changes, and programmatic manipulations to enhance the speed of computation, reporting the team’s status to the stakeholders (VPs and Directors), and finally coordinated the release process across different geographic locations.
