Ayush Kaushal is a highly skilled and accomplished research scientist with a focus on Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision. He is currently pursuing his Master of Science in Computer Science at the University of Texas at Austin, and is a former student of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. With 1.68 years of relevant experience in the field, Ayush has made significant contributions to the research community, and has worked with some of the most renowned organizations in the industry. Currently, Ayush is working as a Research Intern at ETH Zurich, where he is investigating the impact of causal direction data for two Natural Language Processing tasks of Neural Machine Translation and Syntax Discovery. His research has been well-received and was presented as an oral presentation at the EMNLP 2021 conference. Prior to this, Ayush worked as a Remote Researcher at the University of Oregon, where he conceptualized a novel task of Spatio-temporal video dense captioning and curated a 1.2M+ Captions dataset. He also outperformed referring expression generation SoTA, with a show-attend-tell inspired model delivering 1.29 CIDEr. He has also worked with IBM as part of the GRM Programme, where he achieved 23% and 42% F1 on token-level and sentence-level bias classification respectively, over state of the art. He also developed a novel solution for bias removal by deletion or rewrite using language generation model preserving information, and designed an end-to-end pipeline with a token-level interpretable report for the 18 Bias types tagged and removed by the model. Ayush has a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from IIT Kharagpur and is expected to complete his Master of Science in Computer Science from the University of Texas in December 2022.
