Babu Neelam is a Principal Software Engineer at Salesforce, with a passion for building innovative products for emerging markets in technology space. Babu has extensive technical skills in system and software design, distributed systems, data analytics platform, Spark, SaaS, microservices, Kubernetes/Docker, AWS, Splunk, Grafana/Prometheus, gRPC/thrift, protobuff, git/Jenkins based CI/CD, Terraform, Linux, virtualization, networking, and network security. He is experienced in building multi-threaded, high-performance, scalable, and reliable applications using Golang, C++, Java, C, and Python. Currently, Babu is responsible for the Data Analytics platform that handles batch and query workloads at a very high scale for Tableau CRM SaaS Solution (a.k.a Einstein Analytics) at Salesforce. He works with geo-distributed teams and has influenced solutions for scalability and performance challenges faced by the top 20 customers. Babu has led many Top 20 customer investigations and solutions and proactively created “Troubleshooting Self-Service” powered by HDFS/Spark-based log analysis to reduce “Mean Time to Diagnose” production issues. He also leads design/code reviews and recommends improvements with a major focus on performance, scalability, and future expansion. Babu has worked for companies such as Arista and Brocade in the past, where he designed and developed a Network Orchestrator as SaaS Kubernetes microservice, owned and delivered patent-pending Dynamic Path Selection and IP Tunnels, and was responsible for OS Services (Linux) for next-generation VDX 8770 chassis systems. Babu has a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science & Engineering from NIT Warangal, and has completed personal development courses in Machine Learning from Stanford University and Stanford Continuing Studies.
