Badar Ahmed is a seasoned ML leader with over 13 years of experience in the tech industry. He is currently the Director of Engineering at Oracle, where he led engineering teams on the Data Science service and played a critical role in bootstrapping the first AI/ML service at Oracle Cloud. Badar built multiple products from inception to GA, including ML Notebooks, Model Catalog, and Managed ML Inference, and helped grow several teams. Prior to Oracle, Badar worked at an ML startup DataScience.com as an engineering leader from its early days to acquisition by Oracle. There, he led teams building an enterprise ML platform deployed on Cloud and On-prem. Before that, he was a Software Engineer at ElephantDrive, where he led the development of ElephantDrive Web and NAS(Network Attached Storage) platform for ElephantDrive's Cloud storage and backup product. He also helped launch ElephantDrive NAS app on Western Digital, Seagate, Drobo, QNAP & Synology app stores. Badar's expertise extends beyond software engineering, as he has also worked on the Large Hadron Collider(LHC) project in collaboration with CERN while at Caltech. There, he built high-performance data transfer and storage tools for petabyte-scale data. His research group at Caltech contributed to the Nobel prize-winning Higgs boson discovery in 2012. Badar is currently co-founding a stealth-mode startup and is hiring SDEs and ML Engineers/Scientists. He is well-versed in ML and AI and has experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Data Scientist, Research Scientist, and Software Engineer. Badar holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science / Information Technology from the National University of Science and Technology.
