Balaji Parasumanna Gokulan is a skilled Chief Technology Officer with over 12 years of experience in data science and machine learning. He is currently serving as the CTO & Chief Data Scientist at merchantrms inc. where he is responsible for overseeing the technology division and leading the development of data-driven solutions. Balaji has a strong background in research and development, having previously worked as the Chief Data Scientist at Huawei. During his tenure, he was responsible for the research and development of search ad recommendation algorithms and personalized ad recommendations for in-app ads. He also collaborated with universities to identify research gaps and translate them into long and short term projects. Additionally, Balaji designed and productionalized deep learning-based models for spell correction requirements of petal search for south-east Asian languages. Prior to Huawei, Balaji served as a Senior Data Scientist at Yodlee where he created new insights using user financial transactions for B2B and B2C customers. Balaji holds a PhD in Computer Science from the National University of Singapore and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Instrumentation from the University of Madras. He is proficient in a variety of technologies, including Python, AI, deep learning, reinforcement learning, SVM, NLP, and mobile.
