Balaji Ramaswamy is a highly experienced and knowledgeable professional with over 24 years of experience in database management. As a Customer Success professional at Dremio, he is responsible for ensuring the success of Dremio's customers by overseeing database management through the entire lifecycle, from RFPs to design, build, implementation, and operations. Balaji is skilled in managing requirements for new databases and preparing the Statement of Work (SOW), as well as providing comprehensive reviews of DB servers for missing pre-requisites for a smooth software install. Balaji is proficient in installing, configuring, and implementing software and databases per the contract, including RAC, ASM, data guard, Oracle advance security, and grid control. He manages interactions with customers to ensure a smooth transition from their current system to the new system, and provides training and documentation to users. Balaji is also responsible for providing post-implementation support on databases after going live, and he provides escalation and technical guidance for L1 and L2 DBA’s for PR01 and PR02 issues, including working with support.oracle.com for any bug fixes, patches, etc. Balaji has a thorough understanding of NoSQL databases, including key-value store (Cassandra), column store (HBase), document store (MongoDB), and graph. He is adept at database automation and management using shell scripting, as well as system, storage, and network administration tasks for optimizing databases. Balaji is also skilled in reviewing performance metrics monthly and preparing reports highlighting improvements and recommendations. He is responsible for change requests and implementing security patches to support the changes. Balaji has previously worked at Pivotal and Verizon, where he held positions such as Escalation Engineer and Senior Solutions Architect - Database Technologies. At Verizon, Balaji was responsible for managing, hosting, and Remote Application Management for top 1% of clients, ensuring zero downtime for top-tier e-commerce and airline clients during peak times such as Black Friday. He was also the chief architect for Verizon Cloud Database As A Service (DbaAS), which enables customers to use databases with a pay-per-use model. Balaji has worked with a diverse clients portfolio to implement database services, including DR and HA for companies such as AA, Accenture, Best Buy, Borders, Cummins, Gap, Jet Blue, Novartis, Scholastic, Sephora, Sharper Image, Sony, The Body Shop, Urban Outfitters, and Vitamin Shoppe.
