Balthasar Biedermann is a highly experienced Software Engineer with over 13 years of relevant experience. Currently, he works at LANCOM Systems GmbH as a Software Engineer. Balthasar strongly believes that good programmers write code that humans can understand, and that security is not just a product but a process. Balthasar has worked at Sophos as a Senior Software Engineer and Security Focal Point, where he improved the security of all software products developed in Karlsruhe, evaluated and integrated security analysis tools, and created security awareness within all teams. He also provided security knowledge and guidelines, implemented and improved the Secure Software Development Life Cycle, and established, monitored, and improved the Vulnerability Response process. Additionally, Balthasar coordinated efforts to improve overall application security and conducted risk management for OSS/3rd party components used in Sophos products. At Sophos, Balthasar also worked on building Access Point user space software in C, data persistence strategy and improvement, and the design and implementation of Secure Boot for Access Points. He was responsible for the security of Wireless products and the security process in the teams, complete Threat Model an Analysis for Sophos WiFi product, and vulnerability management of their and 3rd party/OSS code. Balthasar also worked on Cloud development for Wireless using Java-based technologies, designing REST APIs between all components, and implementing REST APIs on Cloud and Access Point. Balthasar holds a Bachelor of Computer Science degree from the Universität Mannheim, where he studied Software- und Internettechnologie. He is skilled in Software Engineering, test, SDET, infra, Redis, MongoDB, Spring, UI, Ruby, and Java.
