Bavanya Kurra is an ambitious and talented software engineer who is currently pursuing an MSCS at UCSD and is set to graduate in 2023. She completed her Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science at the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) in Varanasi in 2022. Bavanya is a motivated individual who is passionate about solving problems using technology and engineering new products that make life easier. She has a keen interest in personal growth and is always looking for opportunities to learn and develop her skills. Bavanya is currently working as a Software Engineer at Uber, where she collaborates on revamping the existing flow for post-trip processing. Her work has fixed the root cause behind thousands of trips getting stuck in the money processing pipeline every month. This migration to an event-driven platform in Go is also projected to improve the user experience at Uber by reducing the latency between trip completion and money processing. Prior to this, Bavanya worked as a Software Engineer Intern at Uber, where she designed, developed, and documented a seamless process that reduces the manual effort of identifying abnormal locations in the Places dataset of Uber Maps by 99%. Bavanya has also worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at Wikilimo, where she built end-to-end systems that simulate wildfire spread throughout the globe by performing spatio-temporal forecasting using multilayer feed-forward neural networks and LSTMs. She utilized soil moisture information obtained from the SMOS satellite of around 600GB size to detect dry areas susceptible to wildfires. Bavanya's technical skills include software engineering, machine learning, and neural networks. She is always eager to learn new technologies and is constantly expanding her knowledge base. Bavanya's education history includes a Master's degree in Computer Science from UCSD and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University), Varanasi.
