Bhalaji Nagarajan is an Investigator at the University of Barcelona, currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Mathematics and Computer Science. With over 5 years of experience in deep learning and machine learning research, Bhalaji's areas of interest include Sample Importance, Uncertainty Quantification, Self-supervised Learning, and Noisy Labels. His current research area focuses on Advanced domain adaptation for multi-label food classification, which is also the topic of his Doctoral Thesis. Bhalaji has also worked as a software developer for 3+ years before transitioning to a research career. He has experience in product development and testing, general project management of small-sized applications, customer interactions, and training of development teams. Apart from his research and software development experience, Bhalaji has also demonstrated his leadership skills in non-profit governance. He has led a team of engineers in regular Computer and English classes for children from migrant communities in partnership with Makkala Jagriti, Bengaluru. He has also volunteered at various children's Care Homes in Coimbatore Area, where he engaged in teaching activities and governance assistance. Bhalaji's past experiences include working as an Investigador (Becari Predoctoral Generalitat de Catalu) and Investigador Predoctoral en Formació (Predoctoral Researcher in Training) at the University of Barcelona. His research work during this period was focused on Deep learning strategies for food image analysis, Optimization of deep neural nets for multi-label classification, and GANs for Multi-label food image generation. Bhalaji's educational background includes a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) and a Master of Technology (M.Tech.) in Computer Science and Engineering from Amrita University. He is expected to complete his Ph.D. in 2023. Bhalaji's tech stack includes skills such as Research Scientist, Deep Learning, ML, Supervised Learning, Software Engineer, and testing. With 2.68 years of relevant experience, Bhalaji is a skilled researcher and software developer with a passion for deep learning and a desire to make a positive impact on society through his work.
