Bharath Appali is an Associate Software Engineer at Red Hat with a passion for system programming and cloud technology. He is a graduate of the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, where he earned his Master's degree in Information Technology. Bharath is also a Mechanical Engineering graduate from BVC College of Engineering. Bharath's interests include OS Virtualization, Cloud Computing, System Level programming, Embedded systems, and Internet of Things (IoT). He is also interested in Machine Learning and has been working towards gaining more knowledge in this field. Bharath has made significant contributions to Open Source projects such as Pivotal Cloud Foundry, Eclipse OMR, and OpenJ9. He has also made several contributions to the Java Buildpack. Currently, Bharath is part of the Autotune project at Red Hat, where he is involved in designing and developing core modules such as Dependency Analyzer, Experiment Manager, and Recommendation Manager. He is also responsible for developing functionality that makes the experiment manager process the deployments based on recommendations provided by the Recommendation Manager. Bharath has been developing the experiment manager workflow as designed in the finite state machine process diagram by implementing all the states and ensuring that it does not fail in launching any experiment. Additionally, he has been developing smart config deployment by analyzing the results from experiments and providing better config using the Bayesian optimization mechanism. Prior to joining Red Hat, Bharath worked as an Open Source Contributor at AdoptOpenJDK and as a Software Engineer at IBM Cloud Runtimes. At IBM, he worked on making OpenJ9 compiled with musl libc on Alpine Linux and contributed to appsody stacks. He also worked on the experimental CRIU feature for faster Java startup on appsody Java stack and explored and worked on Kata containers, MicroVMs, and OpenShift. Bharath's technical skills include Software Engineering, Java, and Machine Learning. He has relevant experience of 5.86 years.
