Bhargav Chippada
ML Engineer @ Google | IIT Bombay | Masters in CS, Data Science
About
Bhargav Chippada is a skilled software engineer and researcher with a demonstrated history of working in the tech industry. Currently pursuing a Masters in Computer Science with a concentration in Data Science from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst, he will be graduating in December 2020 and is actively seeking full-time opportunities. Bhargav holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from IIT Bombay and has over 3 years of work experience in various research and development roles. He has a strong background in software development, machine learning, geospatial technologies, and large-scale distributed systems. Some of his notable coursework includes Advanced Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning, Systems for Data Science, Quantum Information Systems, Probabilistic Graphical Models, and Secure Distributed Systems (Blockchain). Currently, Bhargav is working as a Software Engineer at Google, where he previously served as a Software Engineer Intern. During his internship, he worked on the new version of AV1 codec, an open-sourced project by the Alliance for Open Media (AOMedia) lead by Google which uses predictive video compression to achieve higher compression rates and performance. Bhargav used CNN to restore the quality of degraded frames after its encoded using inter-frame coding technique, implemented spatial separable convolutions to reduce the number of neural network parameters by 85%, and achieved -1.2% reduction in BD-rate for the same PSNR compared to the state of the art with just 10k parameters. He also trained inter-frame CNN models on HD resolution video data for different quantization value buckets and implemented a new method called Guided CNN Restoration and showed its effectiveness for further gains. Bhargav has experience working as a Graduate Grader for the course COMPSCI 590Q: Quantum Information Systems at the University of Massachusetts - Amherst. He has also worked as a Research Intern at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, where he developed an algorithm to detect and classify road signs using Deep Learning. Bhargav's tech stack includes Software Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Science, Research Science, Reinforcement Learning, Blockchain, CNN, AI, and Neural Networks. With over 5 years of relevant experience, Bhargav is a highly skilled and motivated professional who is passionate about leveraging his expertise to solve complex problems.
