Bhaskarjit Sarmah is a passionate data science enthusiast who is dedicated to solving real-world problems using data. With over 7 years of relevant experience, he has become an expert in AI, machine learning, deep learning, and analytics. Bhaskarjit is a lifelong learner and has completed over 100 MOOCs, making him a MOOCaholic. He has a curious mind that constantly pushes him to explore the unknown, and he has a talent for reviewing reams of data to find that million-dollar error. Currently, Bhaskarjit is the Vice President and Data Scientist at BlackRock, where he is responsible for using machine learning algorithms to build BlackRock's liquidity risk analytics framework. He has also developed a model to identify financial securities where BlackRock can be a price maker in securities lending market. He is currently working on developing an early warning system using network science to detect regime change in markets. In the past, Bhaskarjit worked as a Data Science Manager at Grail Insights, where he built an in-house social media listening tool for a travel client. He was also involved in performing statistical significance tests and automating the tests using open source tools. Additionally, he delivered data analytics project requests for a large retail client to help them make data-driven marketing decisions. Bhaskarjit is also a mentor, project reviewer, beta tester, and tech blogger at Udacity. He mentors and reviews projects for the Data Scientist Nanodegree at Udacity and volunteers as a beta tester for Data Analyst, Data Scientist, and Artificial Intelligence for Trading nanodegrees at Udacity. He writes technical blogs on machine learning, deep learning, and AI subject areas at Medium for Udacity. Bhaskarjit holds a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from Tezpur University and a Master of Business Administration in Business Analytics from WNS Accelerated Career Development Program, NIIT University.
