Bin Gao is an accomplished Engineering Manager at Meta, where he supports the Bellevue Model Architecture team in Ads Core ML Org. With over 16 years of relevant experience, Bin has an impressive track record in machine learning, recommender systems, data mining, information retrieval, and computational advertising. Before joining Meta, Bin worked as a Principal Machine Learning Scientist Manager at Microsoft Advertising, where he did research and development on improving the ads selection models using machine learning techniques, especially deep learning for natural language processing. Prior to that, he was a Lead Researcher at Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA), where he contributed 10+ techniques to Microsoft Bing, BingAds, and XiaoIce. Bin has 25 granted or pending U.S. patents and has published 40+ papers in referred international conferences and journals, including KDD, WWW, SIGIR, WSDM, CIKM, ECML, ICDM, ACM MM, IEEE TKDE, IRJ, etc. Bin has a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Peking University, and a Bachelor's degree in Computational Mathematics from Shandong University. He also attended Senior High School attached to Shandong Normal University. Bin's academic background has equipped him with a strong foundation in mathematical and computational concepts, which he has applied to his work in machine learning and data mining. In addition to his technical expertise, Bin is also a seasoned mentor, having guided 30+ interns from top universities in China, the U.S., Korea, and other countries.
