Bob Deprizio is a data engineer with a passion for collaboration and a background in data analytics, automation, and mathematics. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics-Mathematics from the University of California and has worked in a variety of roles and sectors, including education and data analysis. At New York Life, he relied heavily on writing SQL queries and VBA code to collect, assemble, and organize vast amounts of data quickly. Bob's interest in machine learning began with his enrollment in Johns Hopkins' data science specialization, where he was amazed by the use of seemingly unstructured and unusable data to build predictive models far more advanced and accurate than what he had previously seen. He is always fascinated by the use of machine learning across any industry. After deciding to switch careers to become a software engineer, Bob enrolled in Holberton School's full stack software engineering program. He is always fascinated with the accessibility of data that APIs can provide and the speed, precision, and automation that can result from writing just a few blocks of code. Currently, Bob works at New York Life Insurance Company as a Participant Service Center Representative, where he collaborates with the conversions project manager to optimize call times by over 30%. He provides retirement plan account services support and information in a fast-paced call center serving over 10,000 retirement plan recipients annually. He has also generated and interpreted complex pension benefit estimates for retirement plan recipients and coached and mentored junior-level customer support staff. Bob has worked at Deloitte as a DC Solution Specialist and has collaborated with data science teams to quantify student success and analyze alumni data from affiliate non-profit, providing statistical insight on two years of survey data using R and MS Excel. He has also conducted investigations of agent sales practices to identify potential violations of state/federal laws, FINRA rules, and company procedures. Bob's tech stack includes data engineering, SQL, machine learning, software engineering, data science, and testing. With over 14 years of relevant experience, Bob is an excellent collaborator who is always fascinated by the use of data and technology to solve complex problems.
