Bohdan Voloshyn is a Senior Software Engineer with over 12 years of experience in building distributed systems and solving challenging problems. He is currently working at Amazon as a Senior Software Development Engineer, where he is responsible for building distributed systems for AWS In-memory Storages. Bohdan is passionate about designing and creating systems that matter to people, and he has a keen interest in distributed and high load systems, cloud infrastructure, big data, and cloud computing, as well as artificial intelligence and machine learning. Bohdan is a versatile engineer who uses or introduces whatever technology is best suited to get the job done. He has expertise in several programming languages, including Java, Python, C++, C#, Perl, and JavaScript, and is proficient in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Sqoop, Spark, Presto, Snowflake, and Azure Data Lake. He also has experience working with various databases such as SQL, MS SQL Server, MySQL, and Oracle DB, among others. Bohdan has worked for several prominent technology companies in the past, including Facebook and Salesforce, where he held the positions of Senior Software Engineer and Lead Software Engineer, respectively. At Facebook, he was responsible for building improved next-generation workflow services for Distributed AI Infra, while at Salesforce, he built a distributed data querying platform consisting of several micro-services, including Presto. Bohdan has a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics and Informatics: Computer Science, a Bachelor's Degree in Economics: Accounting and Audit, and a Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics and Informatics: Computer Science, all from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. He also has a high school degree in Mathematics and Economics from Lviv “Yevshan” Gymnasium. Bohdan's technical skills include cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, big data, web development, scalability, algorithms, machine learning/artificial intelligence (Neural Networks, Genetic Algorithms, Decision Trees, Random forests, Anomaly detection, and others). He is also knowledgeable in stock and options trading and trading systems. Bohdan is an expert in various CI/CD tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, Helm Charts, Jenkins, Team City, and Spinnaker, and is proficient in operating systems such as Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows.
