Brandon Rohrer is a highly experienced Principal Data Scientist with over 20 years of experience in the field of algorithms and computational methods. He is currently working at iRobot, where he is responsible for extracting insights from aggregated robot data to help them perform their tasks more efficiently, intelligently, and robustly. Prior to joining iRobot, Brandon worked as a Principal Data Scientist at Facebook, where he worked on projects aimed at providing internet and electrical power to people around the world who do not have access to it. He used deep learning and satellite imagery to identify topics reliably in unstructured text. Before that, he worked at Microsoft, where he taught basic and advanced analytics and machine learning concepts to employees and the global community. He also wrote tutorial examples and end-to-end industry solutions using Microsoft analytics tools, including the Cortana Intelligence Suite. At Microsoft, he led and managed a team of eight. Brandon has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he also earned his M.S. in the same field. He completed his undergraduate studies in Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University. His educational background and experience in engineering have given him a unique perspective on data science and its applications.
