Brent Bumann is a Software Engineer at Dropbox with almost 6 years of relevant experience. He is a salesman turned software developer with a passion for full stack development. Brent enjoys creating new projects and enhancing previous ones that people will enjoy using repeatedly. His main projects so far have used Rails, React, Redux, and JavaScript, but he is also interested in mobile development and is constantly learning more about SwiftUI in his free time. He is currently working at Dropbox as a Software Engineer on the API Platform and has implemented the scoped permissions feature for API Apps from the backend to the frontend. He has also redesigned the 3rd party API App Creation flow to include the creation of scoped apps and changes dynamically on app creation path change. Brent has previously worked as a Software Engineer Apprentice, API Platform at Dropbox, where he created an interface in Developer Console that allowed 3rd party developers to dynamically update scopes and permissions required from linked users and persist that information to Edgestore. He has also added logging to OAuth2 process to track different errors and success responses using CLogger. Brent implemented features using a variety of technologies such as Phabricator, Bazel, Edgestore, Pyxl, React, API V2, Stone, and Python. Before joining Dropbox, Brent worked as a Software Developer Technical Instructor at App Academy, where he facilitated group lectures and assignments for 70+ incoming students, teaching foundational Ruby, code review, OOP concepts, and reviewing solutions for daily projects. He also managed and coached interactive classroom exercises, including one-to-one and pair programming problems. Brent has a degree in Human Biology from the University of California, where he completed his education in 2015. He also attended App Academy in 2018-2019.
