Bryan Harakh is a problem solver with over 18 years of relevant experience in practical modeling and data science. He has a proven track record of finding the right problems to solve and applying smart techniques to get to germane, robust solutions. Currently, he works as a Data Team Manager at Snapsheet Inc, where he manages and builds out predictive models and metrics platforms. He has successfully used image segmentation and photo recognition techniques to identify the quality and content of vehicle photos in order to optimize downstream processes. Additionally, he has trained predictive models to allocate assignments to the best internal workflows and constructed a practical feedback loop that allows for quick iteration and improvement of existing models. Prior to his current role, Bryan was a Partner and Head of Quantitative Analysis at Nico Trading, where he built and managed the Quantitative Analysis, Risk, and Technology teams. He actively led the quant team, executing trade research in a variety of financial products and implementing solutions for new trading ventures. He also directed the risk management team and developed an internal risk calculation framework along with policies for the communication and mitigation of risk. Finally, he was responsible for the technology team, which developed a wide suite of proprietary trading software used by their traders. Bryan has also worked as a Data Scientist at MarkITx, where he helped build a marketplace for enterprise IT hardware. He was responsible for all modeling needs and used sparse price data, along with a fundamental understanding of IT hardware, to estimate fair prices for thousands of pieces of data center equipment in order to provide accurate market information to participants. Bryan holds a degree from the University of Chicago and has expertise in ML, Data Science, and Image Segmentation. He has taken modeling and metrics solutions from inception to production and has used a wide range of data sources and models to get there.
