Bryan Marker is a highly experienced Director of Software Engineering at Indeed, with almost a decade of relevant experience in the field. He currently manages a team of over 150 Research Engineers who are full-stack developers in Indeed Research, where the mission is to "research, explore, and develop new ideas, products, and projects." Bryan's team is responsible for developing and maintaining specialized job search experiences, experimental products to explore new business areas for Indeed, and tooling and infrastructure to enable internal users' success. Apart from day-to-day management of these teams, Bryan is also responsible for developing their role/function across the company and managing and improving the hiring process for Research Engineers. He also leads the Trust and Safety Engineering team, which builds platforms, automation, and operational tooling to protect users from fraudulent, illegal, low-quality, and spammy experiences on Indeed. Bryan has previously worked at Facebook, where he managed a team of engineers who used data analysis to find inefficiencies in processes, automation, or manual efforts related to content moderation. They worked cross-functionally to improve inefficiencies by coding or utilizing machine learning techniques to automatically classify content. Their goal was to improve business integrity on Facebook's ads, pages, and commerce ecosystems to protect users. Bryan holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin, where he also completed his Bachelor's degrees in Computer Science and Mathematics. He has a diverse tech stack that includes Research Scientist, Senior Software Engineer, Search, infra, and ML. With his extensive experience in software engineering and management, Bryan is a valuable asset to any organization looking to develop and maintain cutting-edge products and platforms.
