Cameron Macarthur is a software engineer turned founder who is passionate about solving the pain points in the overlooked areas of insurance. He is the Founder and CEO of A.I. Insurance Inc. (YC W19), a company that builds artificial intelligence-backed software for running an insurance company. With the use of digital workflows and predictive analytics, AI Insurance is helping incumbent insurers run like InsurTechs, which is a huge leap for the 300-year-old insurance industry. With 4.10 years of relevant experience, Cameron has worked with some of the biggest names in the industry. He was a Cognitive Software Engineer at IBM, where he led a team of 7 people and worked with text-to-speech and speech-to-text to bring ears and a voice to a Watson-backed cognitive bot that provides career advice to employees. He also restructured the campaign routing system backend to allow for new marketing campaign codes, resulting in a value-add of $7 million to IBM. Additionally, he designed and built software applications that validate analytics events for all software offerings in IBM. Cameron was also a Product Designer and Engineer at Tidal Labs, where he worked on an educational and interactive board game called Invasion of the Energy Monsters. He designed, built, and programmed an interactive board using magnetic sensors to bridge the gap between the digital and physical in the game. His work was published, and he demoed it with his team, winning 1st prize at the GLS 2016 Conference. He also worked with a team to build a Computer Vision system called Pianimals to teach children music. Cameron's education background includes a Communications Studies & Computer Science Double Major from Northwestern University and a stint at Y Combinator. His skill set includes AI, software engineering, product management, backend development, product design, and computer vision.
