Carson Sievert is a highly skilled software engineer with expertise in interactive web graphics, statistical computing, and machine learning. He is currently employed at RStudio, Inc. as a Software Engineer where he develops and maintains software that RStudio’s business model and user base depends upon, including but not limited to Shiny, R Markdown, Flexdashboard, Plotly, bslib, thematic, shinymeta, etc. Carson is passionate about creating products that make data more accessible, informative, and fun. His expertise is evident in his publications, awards, and consulting projects. Before joining RStudio, Carson worked as a Research Assistant at Monash University where he advised honors student research and presented workshops on data science in R. He also worked as a Principal Consultant at Sievert Consulting where he developed software and websites that enable clients to more easily explore data. Carson has a PhD in Statistics from Iowa State University, where he also earned a Master of Science in Statistics. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Mathematics from Saint John's University. Carson's technical skills include software engineering, web development, research science, machine learning, and data science. He has 6.79 years of relevant experience in these areas.
