Charlotte Turner is an experienced data analyst and developer currently working at Public Health England as a secondment to the COVID-19 Contact Tracing Cell. In this role, she is responsible for epidemiological and operational analysis, data engineering, data quality, stakeholder liaison, and much more for contact tracing data during the COVID-19 pandemic. Charlotte is also developing reporting and data pipelines in R and SQL, and is acting up to G7 in an internal secondment. Prior to this, Charlotte worked as a Senior Analyst at the National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service at Public Health England, where she released granular data about less common cancers via the Get Data Out programme. She was also the lead analyst for gynaecological cancers and the lead analyst for the Ovarian Cancer Audit Feasibility Pilot. Charlotte's responsibilities in this role included data extraction, wrangling, visualization, and analysis in SQL and R, as well as methodology and anonymization. She also engaged with stakeholders and helped promote public understanding of statistics. Before joining Public Health England, Charlotte worked as a Mathematical Fact-Checking Researcher at Stand Up Maths, where she checked mathematical and factual details in a popular mathematics book. Charlotte holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics from the University of Warwick, a Master of Advanced Study (MASt) in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, and a Master of Mathematics (MMath) from the University of Durham. She also holds a Postgraduate Award in Introduction to Academic and Professional Practice from the University of Warwick. Charlotte's technical skills include research science, SQL, and data engineering. With over 10 years of relevant experience, Charlotte is a highly skilled data analyst and developer who is passionate about using her expertise to solve complex problems.
