Chetan Patil is a Tech Lead Manager at Google with over 8 years of relevant experience in the software engineering industry. He is currently working on Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) for YouTube and all Google video services, as well as building better automatic captions at scale. Prior to his current role, Chetan worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Voicea, where he developed a cascaded classifier using Deep Neural Nets for keyword spotting and built the backend service to provide PSTN call capability to interface with the virtual assistant. He also worked on infrastructure for the life-cycle of the model and the pipeline for continuous online training, as well as a bidirectional recurrent neural network based off open source architecture for punctuation of transcripts generated by the speech recognition systems. Chetan has also productionized in-house Kaldi based speech recognition solutions and optimized them for cost. Before joining Voicea, Chetan served as a Software Engineer at Apple, where he worked for the CoreLocation team to develop the first GPS platform on Apple Watch (series 2) and worked on several key architectural implementations. He also developed tools for testing and automation of iOS build and integration, as well as software development and integration for several Apple products including iPhone 7 and Apple Watch 2. Chetan holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Systems and Architecture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as well as a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka. He has also completed internships in Computer Architecture & Design Automation at Technical University Munich and Electronic Design Automation at Indian Institute of Science. Chetan is proficient in a range of technologies including AWS, iOS, Kubernetes, Neural Networks, Microservices, and GCP. He has experience in backend development, AI, infra, integration, and test.
