Chloson Tan is a final year undergraduate at the University of Wollongong pursuing a Bachelor of Computer Science with a focus on Big Data. With a passion for working with data and a strong belief in the scientific approach to gain insights from data for decision making in businesses, Chloson is eager to utilize and apply his skills in the tech industry. During his years at the University of Wollongong, Chloson was exposed to various statistical tools and programming languages such as Python, SQL, Pandas, PySpark, R, Hadoop, Scikit-learn, MongoDB, and Java. He is well-versed in these technologies and is eager to apply them in real-world scenarios. Currently interning at the Singapore Institute of Technology, Chloson is responsible for organizing and planning student orientation camps, recording minutes on a weekly basis, documenting important decisions of the operations team within a 2-day submission deadline, and taking the initiative to follow-up on ethical, safety, and cost issues discussed at weekly operations meetings. He also generates invoices for necessary camp shipments, selects suitable supplies and contractors to ensure ethical purchasing and costing for procurement needs, conducts inventory management using Microsoft Excel, and develops skills like interpersonal skills, problem-solving, working under pressure, and multitasking. Chloson has also developed a system process in the Excel sheet to enhance proficiency and efficiency further. Chloson has previously worked as an Event Assistant at Original Media, where he directed ticket holders to seats and facility locations, prepared services for multiple talks and children's events, worked with many customers to understand requirements and provided a pleasant service, and provided customer service by selling tickets and merchandise, answering questions, and distributing programs. Chloson's education history includes a Diploma in Business Process & System Engineering from Temasek Polytechnic and a current pursuit of a Bachelor of Computer Science with a focus on Big Data from the University of Wollongong, expected to be completed in December 2022. Chloson's technical skills include Big Data, SQL, Scikit, Pandas, MongoDB, Hadoop, Python, and Java.
