Chris Boaks is a highly experienced Senior Frontend Software Engineer currently working at Google. With over 16 years of relevant experience, Chris has worked with some of the top companies in the industry, including newscred and welcome (fka chatid). At newscred, Chris was responsible for a top-to-bottom rewrite/refactor of custom user Google Analytics-powered tracking script from JS to TS, in addition to implementing new scroll depth tracking and cross-subdomain tracking. He also upgraded the Home Page UI from Angular 1 to 4, substantially simplifying the codebase and integrating simpler workflows/libraries. Chris developed a Google Analytics implementation strategy for client sites and trained his team on its use. He implemented numerous UI components for data presentation on Home Page, Analytics Page, and Ideation Page and created corresponding database endpoints. He also impelled an upgrade to ES6 on the server-side codebase. At welcome (fka chatid), Chris was responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining a web-based internal tool that allowed Sales team members to create and present on-the-fly product demos. He made wide-ranging contributions to the flagship product, including a core redesign of the deployment strategy. Chris also architected and implemented an internal Deployments Portal and core ETL pipeline models for data ingestion and preprocessing. He was responsible for formal training (and informal continued mentorship) of new Engineering hires, interviewing of potential hires, and leading client-facing calls and communications in support of new client integrations. Chris also wrote and maintained code to deploy the core product on retail client websites, including Walmart & The Home Depot. Chris has a degree in Web Development from app academy and a Master of Science (MS) in Physics from the University of Michigan.
