Chris Brainerd is a Senior Software Engineer with almost a decade of experience in the field. He is a people-focused software developer, mental health advocate, and developer advocate with a passion for mapping, data visualization, and UX. Chris is currently working at Mapbox, where he is responsible for developing and maintaining software applications. He has also worked at Visionist, Inc. and Deloitte, where he served as an Engineer and Consultant, respectively. At Deloitte, Chris developed web applications on a PostgreSQL / Django / Vue.js / Semantic-UI stack for defense health clients. He also led and served as a technical lead on small teams developing small and medium-scale analytics and reporting solutions. Chris taught and mentored teammates and colleagues, ensuring they both learned the skills that they were interested in gaining experience in, as well as learning skills that would serve the needs of their projects. He also developed and led training on data visualization and visual design which has subsequently been used both internally elsewhere in the firm as well as externally for commercial clients. Chris holds a Master of Public Policy from Oregon State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He is skilled in Software Engineering, Javascript, UI, Web, Senior Software Engineering, Django, and VueJS.
