Chris S. is a seasoned professional with over 11 years of experience in the tech industry. He is a natural language machine learning and artificial intelligence expert with a passion for aviation, as evidenced by his private pilot license. Currently, Chris is the CTO and co-founder of matchademics, where he designed and implemented a system for finding personal value compatibility between prospective PhD students and PhD advisers. The system relies on a deep understanding of personal values to determine how and why people perform better when they have better personal relationships. Users are classified and clustered based on complementary personal values, be they similar or dissimilar. Chris has previously worked as a managing partner and co-founder of Sawtelle Capital Investments, LLC, a private equity real estate investment fund specializing in multi-family and commercial properties. He has also served as an engineering manager at Barracuda, where he established a long-term vision for combating security threats using the latest ML/AI technologies. His responsibilities included collaborating cross-team to improve organizational efficiency, managing and mentoring a diverse and growing team of software engineers, threat analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and machine learning engineers, and developing state-of-the-art data lakes, warehouses, and MLOps pipelines leveraging industry best practices. Chris holds a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from San Jose State University, an Artificial Intelligence Nanodegree, and a Machine Learning Nanodegree from Udacity, and an Associate of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Shasta College.
