Chris Silivestru is a seasoned Development Manager with over 12 years of relevant experience in the tech industry. Currently leading Admin Wayfinding at Shopify, Chris is responsible for solving interesting problems with interesting people. Chris has an impressive work history, having served as a Senior Software Engineer at Shopify Plus and a Software Developer at Vidyard. At Vidyard, he worked on several parts of the micro-service platform, spanning multiple disciplines, scopes, and scaling requirements. He was also part of a two-person project that introduced Oauth2, allowing Vidyard to be an identity provider to other services while enabling simple integration with other platforms through their Oauth2 solution. Chris currently works on the playback portion of the platform, involving projects that range from encoding-centric challenges to front-end video playback and thumbnail management at a scale of tens of thousands of videos encoded per day with millions of views per day. His most recent project is to overhaul their thumbnail generation, storage, and delivery mechanism, where he has decreased latency to thumbnail load times by an order of magnitude.
