Chris V. is a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer at Netflix, with a passion for pushing the boundaries of technology. He has a proven track record of designing, building, and optimizing high-quality applications, APIs, and platforms, with a focus on speed and performance. With almost 18 years of relevant experience, Chris has worked in fast-paced environments, consistently delivering quality code on schedule. Currently, Chris is a Senior Software Engineer at Netflix, where he develops and supports 24/7 operations of Shopbop.com and Eastdane.com. He has played a vital role in the development of the Shopbop iOS application and supporting API, built with RESTful design. Chris has also built several features such as My Hearts and Customer Reviews, and introduced and administered automated build and deploy services for use with Shopbop's software development life cycle. He is also the main engineering culture evangelist at Shopbop, planning internal hack day events and engineering outings. In his previous role as Staff Software Engineer at Simple Finance, Chris was the backend domain leader for their engineering organization, working across five product-focused teams of engineers towards building customer and internal-facing products. He designed and implemented multiple customer-facing products, including Simple Plus, which included invoicing/billing on a monthly cadence, ATM reimbursement, and enabling other products to be built on the Plus platform. Chris also designed and implemented their next-generation infrastructure platform and disaster recovery plan using Terraform, Concourse, and Cloud Foundry, among other accomplishments. Chris has a strong educational background, having earned an Associate Degree in Web Analyst/Programmer from Madison Area Technical College in 2005 and studied Software Engineering at Arizona State University from 2001-2002. In addition to his extensive experience, Chris is skilled in several technologies, including Terraform, iOS, Scala, Java, and Backend. He is a highly motivated individual who is passionate about mentoring engineers and supporting applications via their 24/7 on-call rotation.
