Christian Versloot is a Weather Data Technologist with a passion for weather and software. He is currently working with infoplaza, the company behind Weerplaza, Weeronline, and Buienalarm, where he is a part of the Weathertech team. Christian is a self-educated programmer since 2007 and has a breadth of development experience with a variety of languages and frameworks, including full-stack web development, databases, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and DevOps practices. He has been formally trained as a Business Information Technologist, and his work needs to have an impact. Christian loves working together with technical and non-technical stakeholders in translating company goals to tech that works, both ways. Christian has written a lot about machine learning on his (now defunct) website MachineCurve.com since 2018. He still reads about new developments in computer vision and language models, and all his articles are available through his GitHub page free of charge. Since he was a kid, Christian has been fascinated by weather, especially thunderstorms. Through self-study, he has learned about atmospheric science and weather forecasting. In his free time, he does storm chasing for lightning photography. Christian has worked on several projects during his tenure at infoplaza, including cloud computing, machine learning, WxModelOps, GraphQL, and WebGL. He has helped colleagues and students with theoretical understanding about and hands-on support in ML projects, leading the MLOps setup. Christian has also guided students by giving guest lectures about weather tech and offering cases at bachelor and master level courses related to machine learning, databases, and business intelligence, project management. Before joining infoplaza, Christian worked with Assetworx as a Technology Lead, where he focused on software for infrastructural assets and related industries. He has also worked on several projects, including weather and energy, predictive road maintenance, UGI, and PCDS. Christian has a Master of Science (MSc) in Business Information Technology from Universiteit Twente and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Bedrijfsinformatietechnologie from the same university. He completed his vwo from Christelijk Lyceum Apeldoorn.
