Chuan Wang is a highly experienced data scientist and machine learning engineer who currently works at Apple. With over six years of industry experience in various aspects of data science and machine learning engineering, including product/user analytics, user growth modeling, causal inference, end-to-end machine/deep learning model building and deployment, natural language processing, and data/software engineering, Chuan is a seasoned professional in his field. In addition to his technical expertise, Chuan also has two years of management experience, where he has led and mentored other data scientists. He is currently working as a Machine Learning Engineer at Apple, where he is involved in a project that applies ensemble methods in insurance. His responsibilities include comparing the performance of different types of ensemble methods such as Gradient Boosting Machine, Random Forest, and Elastic net, finding the best practice for each method, and exploring ways to reduce computation time. Before joining Apple, Chuan worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance as a Principal Analyst and Advanced Analytics Intern. During his time there, he was involved in several projects, including building an automated platform to facilitate customer quoting process, extracting features from text data with natural language processing techniques, and recoding SAS models in legacy servers into Python. Chuan has a Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics from the University of Florida, a Master's degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor's degree in Statistics from the University of Science and Technology of China. He is proficient in several technologies, including ML, Random Forest, SVM, NLP, Deep Learning, Neural Networks, AWS, Word2Vec, Bag of Words, Data Engineering, Spark, Big Data, Python, Docker, Research Scientist, and Backend.
