Colin Hoernig is an accomplished Lead Software Engineer and Technical Lead Manager with over 10 years of experience building software. He has a proven ability to turn ideas into robust, well-tested, and maintainable software that is shipped on spec, on budget, and on time. Colin is an Open Source advocate with a strong passion for continuous learning and mentorship & teaching of others. Colin joined Tackle.io as Lead Engineer in November 2019, where he is building software to help Independent Software Vendors (SaaS) list their software in Cloud Marketplaces (AWS, GCP, Azure), provide detailed transaction reporting, and integrate with third party systems. Prior to Tackle.io, Colin was a Lead Software Engineer at Uplight (Formerly Tendril) in Boulder, CO, where he worked on building smart software for the energy industry. Colin has also worked with Music Dealers, a music licensing tech startup in Chicago, building a platform that made 200K+ songs by 20K+ artists easily licensable by anybody in the world. They built a great platform and are proud to have paid out $15 million in licensing fees to independent artists in 2015. Colin is skilled in modern Javascript (Node.js, React.js, Angular), Python, Elixir, as well as a bit of Golang and Java/Scala. He loves writing clean, well-documented, and well-tested code. Colin is a team player and a great communicator who enjoys contributing knowledge to the team, mentoring, and striving for continuous education. Colin holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Purdue University (2009-2013) and completed his high school education with Indiana Core 40 with Academic and Technical Honors from Lake Central High School (2005-2009). He has experience working with AWS, Azure, GCP, and other relevant technologies.
