Colin Schmidt is a highly experienced technical leader with over 21 years of experience in the technology industry. He is currently the Senior Director of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) - AI/ML, responsible for an enterprise AI/ML platform as a public cloud service. Colin is fortunate to work with a fantastic team of engineers and product managers, solving challenging technical problems at the intersection of machine learning and cloud infrastructure. In the past, Colin has built an enterprise AI/ML platform that was later acquired by Oracle. He has also created high-volume real-time APIs to power partnerships for American Express and a debt management platform for optimizing billions of dollars of student loan debt. Colin enjoys thinking hard about customer experience, scalable infrastructure, and operations. As a technical leader, Colin strives to provide meaningful, challenging work to talented engineers and encourages them to collaborate to build amazing products. He is currently hiring software engineers, ML engineers, infrastructure engineers, SRE, and SDET for OCI Data Science Service. Colin is the CTO and Founder of DataScience.com, responsible for product and technology. DataScience.com provides an enterprise data science platform that combines the tools, libraries, and languages data scientists love with the infrastructure and workflows their organizations need. The DataScience.com Platform maximizes the way data scientists like to work, so they can solve the right problems, create better analyses, amplify their results, and put more work into production — all from one place. Colin's past experience includes being the VP of Engineering at Tuition.io, where he was responsible for every aspect of Tuition.io's technology. His chief responsibilities included hiring and managing a team of engineers, establishing coding standards and QA processes, and ongoing operations of the service. Colin led the complete service redesign and reached the milestone of $1 billion in student debt tracked on the platform. Colin holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from the University of California. His relevant experience includes AI, senior software engineering, ML, infra, data science, SRE, SDET, and QA.
