Colm Cahalane is a highly skilled Senior Site Reliability Engineer with over 5 years of relevant experience. He is currently working for Indeed in Dublin, where he is responsible for providing technical leadership and improving the reliability and support of critical revenue-facing legacy infrastructure. Colm is also encouraging the adoption of the Reliability Checklist tool and moving apps with dependencies on VM infrastructure to the unified Kubernetes runtime. Previously, Colm worked for Indeed as a Site Reliability Engineer, where he was employee #3 on the Dublin SRE team. He provided on-call support spanning across the entire Indeed production infrastructure and was involved in organisation-wide efforts to improve reliability through the global implementation of observability tooling. Colm also provided technical leadership on the development of the Reliability Checklist tool and was trained as a local Kafka SME. Before joining Indeed, Colm worked for Hubspot as a Software Engineer, where he worked on the backend using modern Java 8 on user-facing features including Lead Flows and Calls To Action, as part of a self-contained team. Colm holds a BSc in Computer Science from University College Cork, where he was awarded the Peel Memorial Prize. He also holds a Leaving Certificate from Maria Immaculata Community College. Colm is highly skilled in SRE, infra, AWS, Software Engineering, Kubernetes, Terraform, Kafka, Java, and Backend technologies. He has experience working with a range of tech stacks and is always eager to learn new skills. Colm is a dedicated team player with excellent communication and leadership skills.
