Craig Taub is a problem-solver with a passion for JS and technology in general. He is currently a Senior Software Engineer at fiit, a JS and web programming related online resource. Craig has a big interest in how best to deliver products and understand their impact on the wider business. He believes that the values in a culture mixed with working hard are the key to success. Craig is somebody who believes that teams and individuals should be empowered and trusted in their work and that ideas should be accepted on merit, not authority. Craig has over 13 years of relevant experience and has worked with various companies in the past. He was a Software Engineer at fiit, where he worked on the next evolution of fitness tech. He was also a Software Developer at nested.com, where he worked in a team producing features relating to acquiring and retaining customers. Craig got more heavily involved in back-end systems using Elixir, PostgresSQL, and ElasticSearch more than previously. He was involved in the “front-end service group,” a collective of people who aim to drive the front-end technologies forward. From the group, Craig was able to have a very direct input and influence on high-level decisions. He recently started mentoring some of the newer employees who have joined the team. Craig is very product-oriented and has a real investment in making sure that his team and company are working on tasks that have a high chance of getting a return-of-investment for the business. This involves routinely reviewing any practices to try and identify any improvements. He has done blog posts about the “Feature Lead” role and introducing a “Business impact culture.” Craig is somebody who believes that teams should aim to validate any ideas or hypothesis in the field with real users and also aim to ship features in small pieces that offer user value. Craig has a degree in Computer Science from the Manchester Metropolitan University. He has experience in Software Engineering, Web, Frontend, Elastic Search, and Backend. Craig is currently producing an "under-the-hood of" blog and video series and has a Medium account where he shares his thoughts and ideas.
