Dan Gagnon-King is a Full Stack Web Developer at Arternal, a startup in the art industry. He graduated from Ryerson University with a BSc in Computer Science in 2017. Dan has previous experience in transportation intelligence at IBI Group, where he developed traffic management systems for highways around the world using C++, C#, TypeScript, and AngularJs. He also had clients of his own as a freelance developer, including RBC Dominion Securities, Humane Society of Canada, and Ryerson University. Dan's current role at Arternal involves developing a CRM, inventory management system, and invoicing system built for art galleries and collectors. He uses a combination of TypeScript and CoffeeScript on their Vue.js frontend, and Node.js on the backend. Their data stack is PostgreSQL and GraphQL. Dan's tech toolkit includes C, React, Express.js, Java, Unity, Godot, and Firebase. He is also fluent in French. In his free time, Dan likes to push code to his GitHub (dgagnonk), go mountain biking, travelling, hiking, and go to his favourite local coffee shop to write fiction. He is currently working on "hush", a work-in-progress application written in Electron, JavaScript, and React, to ease his discontent with Microsoft Word and LibreOffice Writer. It's a back-to-basics word processor for fiction writers. Dan has also worked as a Coding & Career Mentor at Lighthouse Labs, mentoring coding bootcamp graduates and helping them succeed in the workplace. He has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Ryerson University and a Bachelor's Degree in Game Development & Entrepreneurship from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology.
