Daniel Otero is a seasoned Software Engineering professional with over 13 years of relevant experience. He is passionate about solving real problems for real people, and has a strong background working with both startup and enterprise engineering/product/ux teams, system architecture and design, product development, and large-scale distributed systems. Currently, Daniel is the Engineering Lead at Reddit, where he is responsible for leading engineering for Reddit Talk. He is leading a team of engineers who are working on building solutions that address the challenges of scaling a real-time communication platform. Daniel is excited about the growth opportunities at Reddit and welcomes anyone who is looking for a new adventure to reach out. Prior to Reddit, Daniel worked at Google in various roles. As an Engineering Manager II / Tech Lead Manager, he led a team working on Anthos Service Mesh for Google Cloud Platform. He was responsible for building solutions with Istio, Kubernetes, and more. As a Senior Software Engineer and Tech Lead, Daniel worked on various projects, including Google Maps and Google Earth. Daniel holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Washington, where he also completed his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and Music. He graduated from Lakeside School with a Diploma in 1997. Daniel's technical skills include Senior Software Engineering, Kubernetes, and Software Engineering. He is a highly skilled and experienced professional who is always looking for new challenges and opportunities to learn and grow.
