Dave Allen is a highly experienced senior director of quality engineering in the infrastructure solution group at Dell EMC. With over 32 years of relevant experience, Dave is a high-tech industry professional with extensive hands-on leadership in commercial software development and business operations. He has a proven record in designing and delivering innovative software product solutions, meeting defined milestones and deadlines. Dave is a motivational leader who builds collaboration across cultural and language barriers, increases customer satisfaction, and improves operational performance. He is an adept facilitator who communicates key messages to diverse audiences, including C-Suite, executive briefing center, conference attendees, customers, peers, and employees. Dave started his career as a kernel developer at Prime Computer, and then advanced to Encore Computer where he adapted commercial databases to symmetric mult-processors. At Banyan Systems, he wrote Network Operating Systems services. He joined EMC in 1995, first as a developer, then group manager, then department manager. He led development for the Replication Manager product, and then moved to Symmetrix where he led microcode development teams. After that, he led Solutions Enabler, Mainframe Enablers, iSeries product development, and Open Systems Software, until taking on the role as Business Operations Lead and Chief of Staff for Symmetrix. Following that, he led the Enterprise Product team for the Propel R3 project, and subsequently retired in 2016. He then joined Sungard, leading Quality Engineering, DevOps, Agile Development, Security, Development Labs, Documentation, and Shared Services for Sungard's Cloud offerings. In 2018 he returned to DellEMC to lead Quality Engineering for Storage Products. Dave holds an MBA, multiple technology patents, and thrives on solving problems that improve the experiences of customers. His current role at DellEMC includes all DellEMC storage and data protection platforms, where he focuses on defining and ensuring proper execution of requirements, processes, and metrics through the Offer Lifecycle Process phases. His team delivers products that delight the most demanding customers and monitors metrics, driving appropriate and effective corrective actions to address any deficiencies. Dave's past experiences include leading Engineering Services for Sungard Cloud Services, providing aggressive change and capability improvements in Agile Development, Quality Engineering, Technical Writing, Security, DevOps, and Lab services. He also provided business insight and technical acumen to large-scale business transformation at EMC, managing a wide range of projects and programs simultaneously. He mentored and developed cross-functional teams, ensuring go-live readiness.
