David Langer is a data analytics expert and the founder of Dave on Data, where he teaches professionals the 20% of analytics that drive 80% of ROI. With over 22 years of relevant experience, David has trained hundreds of working professionals as an in-person instructor and thousands more via his YouTube tutorials. He believes that ANY professional can learn valuable data analysis skills, regardless of their technical background or industry. David focuses on the trinity of Excel, SQL, and R because they enable a “choose your own analytics adventure” approach. He teaches students to use the right techniques in Excel to get far, which can also function as a springboard into SQL – a top skill for working with data. Additionally, he shows how Excel knowledge can make learning to analyze data with R programming fun and easy, which is the gateway to using techniques like market basket analysis and machine learning. David has previously worked as an Analytics Instructor at TDWI, where he developed and delivered online, virtual, and in-person courses on data literacy, data analysis, and predictive analytics (machine learning). He has also served as the VP of Analytics at Schedulicity, where he led the team accountable for driving revenue and profit via analytics. His daily work spanned the entire continuum of analytics, including descriptive, predictive, and recommendations, using SQL, R, and the Microsoft SQL Server stack. David has a Master of Science (M.S.) in Computer Science & Software Engineering from the University of Washington, Bothell. He has expertise in SQL, ML, software engineering, and senior software engineering. David is passionate about empowering professionals to develop valuable data analysis skills and offers a range of free and paid resources, including online courses, webinars, and tutorials.
