Deon R. is a highly skilled Sr. DevOps Engineer with over 17 years of relevant experience in the field. He is a self-proclaimed geek who loves technology and is always eager to learn new and exciting technologies. Deon is someone who can really dive into a challenge and has a big smile on his face when presented with something new, whether it be a piece of software or a device. Deon is passionate about working with smart people and sharing his knowledge with others as they share their knowledge with him. He believes in having fun while working and doesn't believe in stuffy up-tight work environments. Being able to crack jokes, play the occasional prank on somebody who left their computer unlocked, etc. is just part of the work environment for him. Currently, Deon is working at xevo inc. as a Sr. DevOps Engineer, reporting directly to the CIO to handle specialized projects, working on various system projects related to Linux, service, and application support. He is also responsible for administering Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosted environments, creation and maintenance of Bash, Perl, and Python scripts, writing, executing, and maintaining Ansible playbooks, and working on escalated issues before involving the Senior Engineering team. Deon is also responsible for system administration in support of a Linux infrastructure, building and enhancing systems and software, documenting processes, troubleshooting processes, and solutions to share with other team members, monitoring and responding to alerts, and working on a Kubernetes (K8S) cluster deploying Docker and RKT (Rocket) containers. Deon has also worked with other companies in the past, including aaxis commerce and peak hosting, where he gained experience in environment planning, continuous integration setup/automation, monitoring and alerts, troubleshooting, code review, build best practices and guides, system security, and performance testing support. He has also worked with various technologies, such as DevOps, QA, AWS, infra, Ansible, Python, Kubernetes, Docker, Web, Bamboo, New Relic, test, product manager, Jenkins, and Puppet. Deon holds an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in General Studies from Palm Beach Community College and a Graduate degree in Information Technology from Olympic Heights High School.
