Derrick Marshall is an Associate Software Engineer / SRE with a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science from CSUEB (Cal State University Hayward). With over 2 years of relevant experience in software development, he is a smart and articulate speaker with an undoubted passion for technology. Derrick is highly motivated to remain up-to-date with the latest technologies and development practices, always looking for innovative ways to push the boundaries of software development. Currently working at Adobe, Derrick has previously worked as a Back-End Software Engineer and Front-End Software Engineer at Github, where he was responsible for designing and scaling the back-end of a home/property rental application, stress-testing and analyzing micro-service performance, and deploying a PostgresSQL database on an Amazon EC2 instance. He also developed a responsive front-end micro-service utilizing JavaScript (JS) and React to display unique restaurant photos, architected a custom Express proxy server, and deployed micro-service using Docker and Amazon Web Services (EC2). Derrick's education history includes a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from California State University and an Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies from Los Medanos College. He is currently enrolled in the Advanced Software Engineering Immersive Program at Hack Reactor. Derrick's technical skills include SRE, Software Engineering, Microservices, Backend, New Relic, Web, Frontend, Docker, and JavaScript.
