Dhruv Patel is an experienced Data Scientist with a demonstrated ability to structure and solve complex problems in both academic and professional careers. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, with a solid understanding of Probability and Statistics, Operation Research, Stochastic Processes, Machine Learning, and Statistical Modelling concepts. He has a strong interest in business strategy, finance, and economics. Dhruv has received multiple academic excellence awards, including the Shailja Shrivastava Award (2020), for all-round performance across the department, including academics and extracurricular activities. He has diverse experience in the data science domain, ranging from core ML CD-CI development to data analytics and strategy. Currently, Dhruv is leveraging his data science skills to build strong and reliable product solutions at Urban Company. As a Data Scientist at Urban Company, he has worked on key projects and made a significant impact. He developed a model to detect fleecing cases in the appliances category and designed the whole process from data collection, SQL pipeline to real-time serving to flag suspicious requests. Owing to real-time calling, he witnessed a 60% reduction in fleecing attempts leading to better customer NPS. He also developed a model and framework to quantify the request loss at hub and category level because of slot block and built actionable insights, attributing the correct reasoning with each request block statistically to help perform data-driven capacity planning. In addition to his work at Urban Company, Dhruv has also worked as a Pro Bono Consultant at Teach for India. Dhruv has a Master of Technology degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from IIT Kanpur and is currently pursuing a Product & Growth Program in Business Administration and Management from GrowthX®. He possesses skills in Data Science, Research Science, ML, and SQL.
