Dhruv Vats is a highly curious and motivated individual with a passion for computation and physics. As a Software Engineer at Voltron Data, he spends his waking hours learning and exploring new technologies and their applications. With 1.19 years of relevant experience, Dhruv has worked as an Intern Compute Kernels Engineer at Voltron Data and as a Student Developer at OpenAstronomy during his tenure at Google Summer of Code. During his time at OpenAstronomy, Dhruv investigated, implemented, and integrated the Multitaper Periodogram algorithm into a scientific software package named Stingray. He extended this algorithm to support time series with uneven temporal sampling by implementing a recent research paper that builds on the popular Lomb-Scargle periodogram. Additionally, Dhruv optimized the Lomb-Scargle periodogram's implementation to run in O(n log n) time complexity as opposed to O(n^2), following a research paper by Press and Rybicki, making it vastly more relevant for practical research. He also tested and benchmarked all the implemented algorithms. Dhruv holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering from Vishwakarma Government Engineering College, which he is expected to complete in 2022. Prior to this, he attended SGVP International School, Swaminarayan Dham International School, and Chitkara International School. Dhruv has a strong tech stack, including software engineering, research science, and testing.
