Doichin Denchev is an experienced developer with a focus on back-end and distributed systems. He is currently working as a Staff Engineer at Whoop, where he is responsible for staff engineering on the app infrastructure team. In this role, he works hands-on on a wide variety of back-end systems and services that power Whoop. Doichin's experience includes developing new features for the company's k8s deployment tool, including introducing the ability to pause/restart or gracefully delete/redeploy all supported application types (Vue UI/Java/K8s/Docker/GitHub). He has also worked across multiple teams to measure current processing capacity and scale the Whoop data ingestion pipeline to 30x starting capacity, handling fast customer growth and new product features. The project involved a wide array of back-end systems such as Kafka, K8s, Cassandra, Java, Python, and PGSQL, and was handled with collaboration across all impacted teams. Prior to joining Whoop, Doichin worked as a Senior Staff Engineer at Wayfair, where he developed the long-term tech strategy for the Wayfair International Supply chain business unit. He also developed technical solutions leading away from the monolith design patterns towards smaller, single responsibility systems using relevant techniques such as Domain Driven Design (DDD), Event Sourcing, API design (GQL/Rest), and Microservices. Doichin's role largely consisted of reconciling long-term business and technical initiatives, project sequencing, as well as inter-department communication. Doichin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Anthropology with a concentration in Archeology from the University of Maryland. He has relevant experience of 8.86 years and has a strong tech stack that includes Backend, Java, Docker, Cassandra, Kafka, UI, Infra, Python, and Microservices.
