Dolph Mathews is a seasoned software developer with almost 20 years of experience working on open-source projects, distributed teams, code for the web, automation, virtualization, and containers. He is passionate about writing helpful documentation and delivering robust, elegant code. Dolph is always learning something new and enjoys helping his peers become more productive and successful. Currently, Dolph works at IBM as a Senior DevOps Engineer within IBM Quantum. He is responsible for leading the DevOps effort for room temperature quantum control systems, primarily leveraging Ansible and Concourse for CI/CD. Dolph has automated the entire lifecycle of their technology stack and now shares that responsibility with a small team. His primary tools and technology include Ansible, Concourse, Bash, Python, Jaeger, Pager Duty, LogDNA, Docker, Podman, CentOS 7, RHEL 8, and Fedora 31-33. Dolph practices agile with 2-week sprints and leads his team's retrospectives and drives the team towards continuous improvement. Dolph has also worked as a Senior Developer Advocate at IBM, where he built automation and tooling to scale developer advocacy efforts, particularly for IBM Watson. In addition, he was a Technical Lead at the OpenStack Innovation Center, where he helped determine priorities, onboard new engineers, provide mentorship, and coordinate efforts across teams for the Identity group and for Upgrades. Dolph holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. His relevant experience in the field of DevOps, Python, Ansible, CI/CD, test, Docker, Integration, Web, Software Engineer, and Senior Software Engineer spans over 15.70 years.
