Don Joy is an experienced technology leader with global experience in both Product Management and R&D roles. He has worked on revenue-generating initiatives, including Know Your Customer, automated device certification, and remote device infra for WFH, which improved NPS (Net Promoter Score). Don has been a part of two successful startups in India (AirWatch) and Dubai (ePillars) and has bootstrapped new capabilities while leading multiple customer-facing and internal teams globally. Don has been the global owner for VMware Android device certification program, which is a ~250M USD revenue program, with ~100 partners, ~400 device model certifications for Rugged devices and smartphones. This program reduced escape issues by a factor of 70%. He has also created the blueprint and successfully executed a Know Your Customer program that enabled system test and global support to work with customers for E2E system tests. Over 15 of the top-25 customers in the APJ region are part of this effort, and it resulted in a reduction of ~50% of support issues. At VMware, Don is currently working as a Senior Manager, R&D, managing a global team of 25, working on mobile apps, Workspace ONE (WS1) UEM, Identity, WS1 Cloud Platform, and VDI products as an end-to-end solution. He has spearheaded the Android Device Farm initiative building on top of Open STF to allow employees remote access to Android devices. This effort ensured zero disruption to their teams during the pandemic and was featured in companywide R&D talks, public VMware CTO blog, and is part of the BCP recommendation. Don has hired 150+ strong engineers over the years and directly managed a 25 member global team (India, Japan). He has also been part of the due-diligence team for a VMware acquisition – focused on calibration, onboarding, and career planning of the new team. He has been a track lead for a VMware India wide initiative to create an x-product test-fest and an internal Tanzu (TKG) cloud that enabled multiple BUs to test VMware products as integrated solutions.
