Eric Johnson is a multidisciplinary leader with a relentless problem-solving attitude, applying technical, product strategy, design, and analytical skills to realize the entire product development lifecycle. Eric is a highly skilled musician with expertise in violin, viola, guitar, music production, and DJing, and is the go-to company DJ. He has over 12 years of relevant experience and a proven track record of building great products. Eric has solid experience in software engineering and user experience design practices in highly regulated environments. He is familiar with the entire software stack and product lifecycle, and he has a high degree of confidence and ability to influence others through strong communication, active listening, negotiation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. Eric has successfully managed high-performing software engineering and user experience (UX) design teams in an Agile/Scrum environment. He has a proven record of recruiting, developing, and retaining great talent and building world-class development teams. Currently, Eric is working as a Software Engineering Manager at Johnson & Johnson, where he leads and manages a team of 7 software engineers specializing in Graphical User Interface (GUI) development, including C++, Qt, and 3D software development for a complex surgical robotics platform. He is responsible for overseeing all software development practices, defining and crafting product requirements and roadmap, setting objectives, reviewing performance, and establishing a positive working environment. Eric has also worked at Verb Surgical Inc., where he led and managed a team of user experience designers and software engineers who designed and built the Graphical User Interface (GUI) software from the ground up for a complex surgical robotics platform. He defined and crafted the on-robot user experience vision and clinical product requirements, drafted user study protocols, implemented functional prototypes, attended numerous in-person surgery observations, and conducted extensive user research with a significant number of surgeons and operating room staff. Eric has a Master's Degree in Economics from the University of California and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the same university. He also completed the Summer Institute for General Management (SIGM) at Stanford Graduate School of Business and a Certificate of Completion in Autodesk Maya from Gnomon School of Visual Effects.
