Fletcher Werner is a highly experienced Staff Data Scientist at Shopify, with a passion for building high-impact, data-driven solutions. With over 8 years of experience in the field, Fletcher has a strong background in data science, research, and software engineering. Prior to joining Shopify, Fletcher worked as a Data Science Manager at The Climate Corporation, where he established and led a team of Data Scientists, Statisticians, and Data Analysts focused on Customer Intelligence. He aligned with senior leadership to set team vision and strategy, then translated that direction into a technical roadmap. He also developed and drove adoption of best practices that promoted collaboration and de-risked insight and modeling deliverables with peer review and cross-team engagement. Fletcher led the development of novel e-commerce proof of concept models, including preference modeling, a product churn model, and various customer and market insights. He mentored and developed team members across levels. Before that, Fletcher worked as a Lead Engineer at Northrop Grumman - Cutting Edge Optronics, where he was the technical lead for building predictive and prescriptive models for reducing in-field product failures. He also completed a Master of Science (M.S.) (incomplete) in Physics (Photonics) from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
