Garima Arora is a seasoned Software Engineer with over 9 years of relevant experience in leading the engineering lifecycle of complex distributed systems. Currently employed at Uber, she is responsible for developing and maintaining large code-bases written in Java 7+ and Python. Garima is an avid practitioner of Domain Driven Design on large incomprehensible monoliths to break them into simple and maintainable micro-services. She is also an evangelist for test-driven-development in the developer ecosystem. Prior to joining Uber, Garima worked at Shuttl in various capacities. As a Staff Software Engineer, she helped TL's with bi-weekly sprint plans ensuring optimal tokenisation of tasks and stories. She was also involved in reviewing TRD's, PR's and mentoring a mid-sized backend developer team. Across teams, Garima was involved in major design and technology discussions to bring up the best solution on the table for Shuttl. As a Senior Software Engineer, Garima was a core member of the rewrite engineering team which re-engineered more than 90% of legacy systems in Python, breaking them down into a set of 25+ micro-services over a period of 10 months. She also helped refactor, maintain and scale the legacy Java systems to ensure availability during the booking hours. Garima holds a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) degree in Information Technology (CGPA 9.68) from NIT Kurukshetra. She also completed AISSE (Secondary School Examination, Class 10th) and AISSCE (Senior School Certification, Class 12th) in Science, Non-Medical from Swami Vivekanand Public School.
